A CHURCH CALL

DUNEDIN, June 16
With relorenco to a report that a call had been addressed lo him bv the congregation of the Groymoutli Presbyterian CliurJi, Rev McKenzie announced at the evening service at Port Chalmers that iiis only notification ol the (.icymoutii Church had been a paragraph published. He hat! received no call, and moreover, was not disposed to accept it should it reach him.
NEW WHALING SHIP
WELLINGTON, June 1(3
•A remarkable addition to tlie fleet of the Norwegian whalers operating from New Zealand in the Ross Sea, will he t.he new twentv thousand tons pelagic factory ship, Sir James Clark Ross, which is being built by the ‘Kosshavet Whaling Company to replace the old nine thousand tons converted ship of that name, which nioneerod operations in the Ross Sea in 1.923-24, and which after making seven voyages to that part of the 'Antarctic has been sold to another whaling company.

LARGE BEQUESTS
WELLINGTON, June 16
Charitable bequeaths amounting to £3500 are made to Wellington institutions under the will of the late James MeTiiinamon. of Island Bay, who died on April 14th in his eightieth year. A sum of five hundred a year sterling is also bequeathed to a Chicago hospital. The following are the bequeaths:— Anglican Boys Home, Lower Butt, £IOOO.
Presbyterian Boys Orphanage, Berhampre, £IOOO. Presbyterian Girls Orphanage, Berlin mpore, £IOOO. Mother Superior Home of Compassion. Island Bay £SOO. Mercy Hospital, Chicago, £SOO.
JC'CKEY DEAD
DI'NEDIN, ' June 16
Word was received yesterday that E. Olsen, a jockey who went to Perth with trainer Clnistie, died from the effects of injuries received there on Saturday. Deceased, whose parents live here, was formerly in the employ o. Giesler at Wingatui.

WANGANUI, June 16.
Incendiarism is suspected in connection with the fire at the Wangnnu? East school last night, The front room of the wooden building was badly damaged. The lire seems to have started in two places. The brigndt found a trail of petrol laid on the floor for a distance of four feet. Marks on the outer wall point to someone having gained access through a winlow.
MAN’S BODY FOUND,
PALMERSTON N., June 16
The body of William Stephens the well-known resident of Timatai was found in the Mnnawatu River this morning. Deceased was a dairy farmer and was about his usual duties this morning. He was subsequently missed and neighbours instituted a search, at ten o’clock and his body was found.

WATHI, June 16
The first fire for some time threat oned the business centre, occurred at nne o’clock last evening, party gutting premises on Rosemont road occupied by F. Timanas and Co., (ironmonger) H. Carbutt (grocer) R. Tooniev (bootmaker). Splendid work by tin brigade prevented the conflagration spreading to an adjoining shop. The
