BILL PASSES SENATE.

(Received this day at 9.40 a.m.) WASHINGTON, June 13 The Senate to-day passed the Smoot Hawley Tariff Bill by a majority or two, after adopting the Conference reports, which raised the'existing import duties generally six to twenty per cent. ' The House .votes on Saturday, and a rapid affirmative action is expected.

Mr Hoover is likely to receive the Bill next week. Repubioan leaders have predicted he would sign it.

After discussions beginning on 7th. January, 1929, the Senate to-day passed the final conference report on the tariff measure.

The House’s .approval is expected shortly. A very, bitter debate marked the Senate sessions dinting the fort- , night. Party lines were broken and Republican farm blocks members joined with the Democrats in denouncing Vbhe measure. The division -was so close that it was at first expected the vice Presidential vote of Curtis would he necessary, but with the announcement by Senator Reed that after a long meditation;he would vote for the measure, enabled the passage hy 44 votes to 42..
