.MINISTER'S STATEMENT,
NO DECISION YET,

WELLINGTON, June 12,
No decision to deal wit the engineering difficulties which have arisen at Arapimi hydro-electric works will be made until the extent of the faults and the general situation have been tally investigated. A Hat denial that the head race, together with the cliff and face of the falls below the spillway, were to be concreted, has been issued h.v the Minister of Public Works. This statement said the Minister, is entirely unauthorised. As I indicated a few days ago, remedial measures can only be considered after a complete investigation lias been made and full information has been received by me. Upto the moipent no such proposal has been supplied to me. In any case it will be a matter for Cabinet to decide what expenditure should be authorised. Tt is not my intention. added the Minister, to make any bastv decision.
