DEEP SEA RECORD

HAMILTON, (Bermuda) June 11. A new deep sea diving record is claimed for William Beebe, who descended eight hundred feet below the surface in a steel ball with fused quartz windows. The lowest reviously attained was 325 feet. The steel sphere was fitted with apparatus to absorb exhaled air. Telephone conversations were maintained between the surface and the diver who expects to attain half a mile with this apparatus.
