A meeting ot the executive committee of the Reform Party was held at Wairarapa last night when Hon. McLeod, who‘for some time has been suffering ill-health, stated, lie was improving in health rapidly and would bo able and willing to contest the Wairarapa seat again at the next election. Air AlcLeod was thereupon officially endorsed, as the Party’s prospective candidate.

A well-attended meeting of the newly revised National Defence ' League last night elected General and AVellington District Councils, and Executive Officers.

The Premier and Alinister are to he. approached to receive an early' deputation so that Cabinet may have the, advantage of considering the League’s 5 views before arriving at any decisions.

THEFT CHARGE. j; PALMERSTON N.,. June 6. 'T James Ruskin Robertson, a labourer, aged 48, was charged at the Police Court with having received £3ol on terms requiring him, to ; account for same to G. Torstonson Limited and fraudulently omitting to account for same thereby committing theft. He pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court at AA’elHngton for sentence. Accused, it was alleged, received payment for accounts as manager of a timber mill and did not account for the money. The police evidenced accused in a statement said the money wa9 spent in gambling. ,
