There are speculations whether Miss Johnson’s C'.B.E. may not he a prelude to a further honour when she returns. Critics have already emphasised that the flight merits the Air Force Cross. It will lie recalled that Hinkler’s cross was not given until he-returned, when the Prince of AY .ales bestowed it on he half of the King. It would he most popular if Miss Johnson’s return were similarly celebrated. The present honour in nowise prevents a later presentation of the Cross.
