The Conciliation Council sat here to consider the build.ug trades’ award for Marlborough, An award was sought embracing all branches of the building trade, in-lading plumbers, electricians, painters and other tradesmen, The negotiations involved protracted discussion, The outcome of the proceedings was that all points in dispute were settled to the satisfaction of all the parties with the exception of wages. .11 arrangement was arrived at foi tne parties to consider the question of wages further in private, and it is understood that there is every possibility of an agreement being reached without recourse to the intervention of the Arbitration Court. When an understanding is arrived at, the whole matter will he referred to the Ai biration Court for the purpose of formally making an award. The Conciliation Commisisoner (Mr C, P. Hally) presided. Mr C. G. Camp, of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, wjtli Messrs R. V. Bythell, A. Wanden and J. A. Leslie, represented the employers, and Mr B, White, with Messrs G. Saul and J, Cruickshank, represented the workers.
