WIFE MURDERER REPRIEVED

SYDNEY, May 27
The death sentence passed on Sydney Edward Solomon for the murder of his wife, as cabled on February 28th. has been commutted to life' imprisonment.
DOUBLE DOMESTIC TRAGEDY
MURDER AND SUICIDE.
BRISBANE, May 26,
Victor McKnight, aged thirty years, shot his wife, and then shot himself, at Tambo. Both are dead. Th e motive has not been explained.
RAILWAY SMASH.
MELBOURNE. May 27
Stock and goods trains collided at Elmore, during dense fog. Both engines were thrown off the line badly damaged. Five trucks were derailed, and the crews were injured.
A DISTURBANCE
OUTSIDE PREMIER’S OFF, ICE.
PERTH, May 28
There was a sensational disturbance outside the Premier’s office during a large unemployed meeting. The police and unemployed engaged in numerous scuffles before eight of the latter, some bleeding freely from the facie, were handcuffed iand bustled into car and taken to the police station.
The men had tried to storm the Premier’s building but police reinforcements prevented thus.
