GISBORNE May 27,

Pleading guilty to obtaining board and lodging to the vale ctf £2l 4s by means of fraud, John Haydon Fullarton, 23, was admitted to probation for twelve months, at the Police Court this morning.

TRIBUTE TO POLICE,

AUCKLAND, May 28.

A fine tribute to the New Zealand Police Force was paid by Rev. Jasper Calder (Auckland City Missioner). He said they were always willing to co-operate in giving a first offender a chance. He had never come across a case in which a decent young man who had made a slip had been hounded down. Often a police official, and even, a constable would give financial help, to a first offender.
