Edward Tatliam, one of the members of the London wine firm of Justerine and Drooks Ltd., was released, on one hundred thousand dollars bail, by Federal Judge Caffev to-day..

Tatliam pleaded n'dffi guilty to a charge “’against him ‘of a conspiracy to violate the prohibition law. Tatfam was arrested when he was about to depart for Toronto. He has engaged counsel of the firm of Coudert Bros., who are tlie attorneys here for the British Government. A secret indictment was handed down, last Wednesday against Tatliam and his firm.

The Assistant United Str + es Attorney, Mr Watts, has informed the press that his office had been investigating a proposal that was circulated among prominent-' New York (business men for the smuggling of liquor from England into the United States.

Despatches from London state that a representative of the firm.there, has. expressed surprise at the indictment and has disclaimed any knowledge of the export of liquor to the United States. ’ He stated that. Tatham had made his trip to America on business.
