BOXING
LECKIE BEATS DONOVAN. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association. NAPIER, May 25. The boxing contest between Johnnie Leckie, of Napier, and Tommy Donovan, of Waitara, took place here last night and was won by Leckie by technically knocking out Donovan in the twelfth round Leckie both retained the feather-weight title of New Zealand and proved that his form is equal to, or better than it was when he was in Australia. The contest was fought before a record house for the town of Napier. At the end of the eleventh round, a beautiful right cross sent Donovan to the floor simultaneously with the sounding of the gong, and when Donovan came up for the twelfth round be remained still groggy, and in half a minute another right cross sent him down for the referee to stop the contest and award.it to Leckie. Donovan was no match for Leckie in speed, and the Napier boy had a considerable lead on points, be winning ten rounds out of the twelve;
