YOUTH CHARGED

P \LMERSTON N., May 10.
A youth, Allen Bull, was charged 'it the Magistrate’s Court with bringing an acetylene lamp within ten feet of a full tank of a motor vehicle while such ii tank was being rilled with petrol. The Inspector of Explosives stated defendant called at a octroi’ station to secure benzine. The tank overflowed and the benzine became vaporised in the hot engine and a fife occurred: The prosecution was brought’ •by tlie Department as a warning to the public. 1 His Worship commenting said there appeared to be a ' very real danger which was intensified when it wiis realised how many filling' stations there were in the crowded portions of the towns.
Accused was fined £1 and costs

AGAINST MOTOR DRIVER
AUCKLAND, May 19
Arrested on Saturday, Andrew Smith, aged 38, a fish curer, of Australia, appeared in the Police Court before Mr Hunt, S.M., on a charge of negligently driving a motor car and thereby - ’causing the death of William John Htunby,’ aged 67, of Ponsonby. Accused was remanded for a week, ball being renewed in a sum of £IOOO —self £SOO and one surety of £SOO.
