A GUN TRAGEDY

Eric Mace, aged 16, eldest ton of Wilfred Mace, of Omata, was shot dead while hare shooting at Puniho to-day. He and a party were crossing a creek. He stepped across and a gun was passed to - him. The trigger caught in the bank, and Mace received the charge in the right chest.

Green had his skull fractured and lies unconscious at Porara Hospital. Two other occupants, Richard F. Punks and McCauley are also in the hospital with scalp,injuries caused by flying glass.

YOUNG MAN’S DEATH. CHRISTCHURCH, May 19.

Arnold John Bennett, aged 21,. died in the Christchurch Hospital on Saturday as a result it is helieved, of injuries received in a collision on August 1929 when he was riding a motorovole. He was treated for a fractured skull, and then discharged but’ was re-admitted on April 18 with an abscess that was pressing on the. brain.
