SERIOUS FINANCIAL POSITION

(Received this day at 8 a.m.) MELBOURNE, May 19.
The Premier of South Australia (Mr Hill) who has been discussing with the Victorian Premier (Mr Hogan) some of South Australia’s difficulties, said the financial position of the railways which were threatened with a loss of two million sterling for the current. year, was so unsatisfactory that the Ministry proposed to appoint a Royal Commission to investigate the management of the railways.
FLOUR MILL FIRE.
(Received this day at 9.40 a.m.) ADELAIDE, May 19.
The Farmers’ Union flour mill at Pin. naroo was destroyed by fire. The power, station was also demolished. The damage is estimated at £20,1100 sterling.
BRITISH TRADES UNION SECRETARY.
FREMANTLE, May 19,
Walter Citrine, General Secretary of English Trades Union Congress has arrived from London. He said more people were employed in Britain’s industries to-day than in 1913. Germany and United States had a more serious unemployment problem than England.
