INCREASED SUBSIDIES. WELLINGTON, May 18. Hen H. Atmore gave a very sympathetic hearing to a deputation from rhe New Zealand Conference of the W.E.A. asking far an increased grant and asking -also that the limitation ol Government subsidies on local body contributions for the work of the W.E.A. should be lifted. The high itnmlftrd of achievement and the growth of classes was emphasised, and also the call on the Association to carry its activities into the rural districts. Mr Atmore stated that he recognised the reasonableness of the requests. and would do what he could for the Association.
