WELLINGTON, May 17

The erection of a, building to house the Governments Departments now occupying private premises in Wellington, the completion of the remaining half of Parliament Buildings, and demolition of Mount Cook Barracks, in readiness for the new museum and art gallery, were suggested as possible schemes for providing work for unemployed, by a deputation headed by local M’s.P. which waited on the De-puty-Leader of the Government and Minister of Public Works yesterday. Hon Forbes, in reply, .stated there were 079 men registered in Wellington, and arrangements were being made to place three hundred of them. He promises to arrange a conference, with district local bodies and endeavour to arrange for a comprehensive scheme for meeting the situation.
