BLENDE LA I, Ah iv . 15. £ W. Pen fee (Wellington) gained' the decision over C. Gear (Blenheim) in a ten round light-heavy-weight boxing’ contest to-night, both ' making their debut in the professional ring. The bout. was not 'particularly .thrilling, though both fought hard all the way, but showed a lack of recent fights. .Pearce proved a shifty target,, displaying superior footwork and general ringcraft. Gear presistently took the fight to his oppdnent, and a section of the crowd considered he won.
