VALUABLE PROPERTY SOLD

Neill’s building with frontages to Bojul and Crawford Streets of 136 feet and two other streets of 88 feet has been sold to a company for £45,000 sterling. It is proposed to erect a nine storey reinforced concrete building#,of offices and type on the site which'is op posite the site of the new Post Office.

LAND SETTLEMENT LEAGUE PALMERSTON N., May 14,

Tlte (objects of the New Zealand Land Settlement and Development League were explained to a public meeting, last night by W. J. Holdsworth, N.. G. Gribble and R. Glover Clark, officers of the . Association. Subsequently a meeting decided to form, a branch of the league to give effect it its policy. At a meeting of Hobson Electric Power Board, George Rhodes (assistant Secretary of Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board) was appointed Secretary of the newly cpnstitutioned Board; tnere were 169 applicants.

Mr J. A. McLean, who has been Chairman of the old Board for the, past six years, was elected Chairman of the new Board unopposed.
