The authorities view with alarm 30 cases of bubonic plague in one province, and fear an epidemic.
TREATMENT OF INFANTS
A PROCESS UNSUCCESSFUL

Out of 246 infants a Lubeck, Germany, ;giv!eii oalmette prophylactic treatment against tubeurculosis, consisting of germs from tubercular cows in; food when between one and ren days old, eight have died and twentyfour are seriously suffering from tulverculosis symptoms. The authorities have ordered a cessation of the treatment and an unvestigatioiij, to discover whether they were given an overdose, which the doctors declare impossible, pointing out that four hundred thousand had been successfully treated in England, Australia and Italy.
