The Kokfitalii Ladies’ Hockey Club Ball in the Public Hall,'Kokatalii, last evening proved a great success. There was a large attendance including a good number from town. The Black Hand Orchestra supplied capital music for the dancing.
Next. Wednesday night has been e fixed for the grand opening hall to 3 mark the-enlargement of the Soldiers' Half. The proceeds are earmarked 3 for the furnishing of the more cornmodf ions rooms which will entail a good deal ‘ of expense. The occasion appears to 3 be one for liberal public patronage in 1 appreciation of the provision of so l fine a hall for the use of the towns- • people D Queer “stunts,” such as pie-eating i and sarsaparilla-drinking, are helping 1 Sydney folic to spend the time which , always hangs heavily on people in a e busy city. Another of the “stunts” is 1 pole sitting. It has no connection with 1 rail-sitting and politicians are not eliY gible. Its purpose apparently to prove 1 in a time of financial stress, that a - man may “live high” and still live ' cheaply, t At a meeting of the ladies’ commit- , tee of the R.S.A. yesterday afternoon s at the Soldiers’ Hall, arrangements for s the gala ball next week were finalised. , The ladies will be in charge of the 1 supper arrangements, and details in re- ; spect to the matter were settled. It 2 was decided to place attendants In charge of the ladies’ and gentlemen’s. - cloak rooms. The Club room will be 1 arranged as a Smoke and card room. It 3 is proposed ib aftange also fbf a flash* - light picture tb be taken of the opeil* ‘ ing of the enlarged hall. The doors 2 will open at 8 o’clock, and dancing is s t.o commence at 8,30, whilo supper will - be served to groups of large pnrties in i the new social hall from 11 o’clock oni wards,- distinctive coloured tickets be--1 ing used for each group. From the 2 nature of the arrangements, and the > enquiries regarding the ball, it would • appear the opening of the enlarged Soldiers’ Hall is going to be an out- ■ standing event in the social doings of • the year. The ladies’ committee de- : sires to acknowledge with thanks a ! donation of cool drinks from Kortei gast Bros for the hall.
