ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO ROB. WELLINGTON, May 12. In tin? Supreme Court Walter Eraser- Sheriffs Hame-iss,- alias William Eraser, ancl James, Burmau, who was found 'guilty last ,w,eek of. assault wifh intent to . rob,, were each .. .sentenced to four years’ imprisonment hy Mr Justice Blair. Counsel for the defence said that in view, of their record he found it hard to say anything to,, influence the Court in tlieir favohr. His Hopour said that there was :■ time when robbery with violence was always punished with hanging. The prisoners had got hold of a half drunken man and throttled him an attempted !o rob him. Harneiss• had been sentenced to eighteen months’ for a similar offence in Christchurch in 1923. _ ..
