At the conclusion of the evidence in the trial of the Walkers for tlielt and receiving property, belonging to the Anchor Shipping Coy., the Judge said it appeared that as far as the male accused was.concerned, the' evidence was mainly • that lie' was the husband of the female accused and frequently at the house. It was very doubtful, in his mind, if it would he safe to convict the husband. Of Mrs Walker, however, His Honour said, she must have known what she was doing. The hearing is -proceeding. LATER.
The jury found Walker not guilty and the prisoner was discharged. Airs Walker was. (found guilty on receiving charges, with a strong, recommendation to mercy. Slice was fined £IOO and costs £24 Bs, in default six months’ imprisonment. Fourteen nvs were give nin which to pay the fine.
