Hokmvhiia links to-day were the vcmiu ol tlie first open autumn foursomes to he conducted by the Ladies ■Jolt Union in the Dominion. The entries number seventy four. It was stated to he exceptionally pleasing that primarily the introduction of open autumn I'oresomes was due to the foresight of Mrs Guy-Williams of Masterton (President of the Ladies Golf Union) who is the donor of two handsome silver cups as trophies, replicas of which are to he presented to the winners and have been donated by Mass E. Calling, of Auckland. The principal of the competition is to encourage the team spirit. Results of the first round:—E. Culling ' < Auckland) and I). Chrystall (' bi-L+cburch) beat Mesdames Thompson and Mnmmuru (Bulls), seven and *?•'*. M' s ,T. P. Innes and Miss N. ’•MV’s (Manawatu) beat Misses E. and S. Baldwin (Marton) six and fire. Miss S. Watson (Manawatu) and Miss E. Bell (Wellington) beat heat- Mrs Tb B«rgh and Miss Peirce (Mulls) eight and seven. There were many bves in the first r~-ind. the second being played this afternoon.
