Treasurer Stevens stated that Gov'ernment had definitely decided to repeal the forty-four hour week legislation. He also foreshadowed sweeping 'ogislation to restore industrial" financial stability. The public service salary cut will 'be extended to include officers and other employees of public authorities and corporate bodies. Thus the reduction will apply almost certainly to the police iforce and definitely to employees of the Harbour Trust, Government Savings Bank, Main Boards, .Water and Sewerage Board. Judges are exerppted. Many other sip-Governmental bodies are likely, to be affected... .
