An extremely pretty nuptial at Gisborne w as Unit oi Arnold Henry, son of .ur and .virs A. H. Thorpe, of Hokitika, and A ida, daughter of Mr and Mrs ii*. A. (Jam nor, Pa ran street, Gisborne wnicii took place in St. Andrew’s Pres- , lerian Church- on Thursday afternoon last. The ceremony was performed by the’ Rev. J. S. Murray, M.A., while Mr Irvin Moore presided at the organ.
me bride, who’ entered the church on the arm of her father, was exquisite.y dressed in pearl georgette and Lnantilly lace, made with a hip yoke from which the lace fell in a long vandyked panel in front. The skirt was very long and flared, and was hemmed with a scalloped liem of the lace. An tmbriedered net veil was arranged cor-net-wise with strands of orange blossoms and then fell as a graceful train. The bouquet was of white cactus dahilias, and maidenhair (fern, and was tied with white sation streamers, and silver shoes and white hoisery were worn. Two bridesmaids, Misses Constance Gardner, of the bride, and Helen Gardner, a cousin, were frocked alike :n the most charming gowns of coral pink mylesta, made with tight-fitting bodices and flared skirts longer at the back. Delightfully smart little capes of beige lace, and hems of the lace added to the pretty effect of the costumes. Their hats were of beige felt, long at tbe back and turned up in (front- with a tiny pleated ribbon of rose, beige ; the shoes and hosiery were of ’mice, and the bouquets were composed of deep rose cactus dahlias and fern, with long satin streamers of beigerose.
Mr >T. C. Dow acted as best man with, Mr H. D. Gardner, a brother of the bride, as groomsman.
The reception was held in Le Grand " omige, where a wealth of autumn flowers bloomed on the tables and stood about on flower stands. A floral bel' was suspended above the bride and »"degrooin, and the cake was a delicately iced three-tier one, adorned with silver slippers.
The bride’s mother received tV guests in a lovely gown o'f oyster grey crepe sat : n, with the fashionable hip volte and two flared frills upon the skirt, a navy blue felt hat, and grey shoes ond hosiery. Her bouquet was ■? rfeep rose and scarlet dahlias tied with scarlet ribbon.
The recention wts very largely ar-•-■n'lpd; and during an interval thru any congratulatory telegrams and messages were read.
