Anthony Trollopt, the famous Victorian novelist, hated tobacco at one time. That was before he began to write novels. When lie became a weaver of plots and a delineator of character, he sought—and found—as so many writers do, inspiration in the weed. But he was a fastidious smoker and to the end of his days avoided tobacco heavily charged with nicotine, knowing full well that sooner or later, the poison would exact the penalty of shattered nerves or diseased heart. Had our popular New Zealand tobaccos been to the fore in Trollopt's day they must have appealed to him, because, owing to being toasted, (as no others are) they , are almost entirely free from nicotine* and perfectly harmless—something that cannot be claimed for the foreign tobaccos, all of them remarkable for the large quantity of nicotine they contain. The New Zealand are the only toasted tobaccos manufactured in the Dominion. Note the names of the brands: liiverhead Gold, Navy Cut. Cavendish, and Cut Plug N. 10—and beware of imitations!—Advt.
