WASHINGTON, May 3,
Sir Herbert Wilkins, : '.-before the American Geographical Iljfjpn, unfolded his plans for a submarine trip through '■ the top of the earth to seek meteorological secrets in the Polar sea. He will leave Spitsbergen during July of next year in a specially-equipped submarine, and will go through the North Pole to Alaska two thousand miles away. The trip will last two months.
He " explained that the submarine as the only means of obtaining the desired information, as the attempts by surface vessels and aeroplanes had proved futile. Doctor H. U. -Sverdup, the noted Norwegian 'oceanographer, and other scientists have agreed that the undertaking is feasible.
