MILEAGE CENSUS TO BE TAKEN

WELLINGTON, April 29

When the, owners of motor vehicles renew their-licenses this year they wiir.be asked to supply as far as may be possible information regarding the mileages run .by their vehicles. . (a) "During the year ended April 30th and

(b) During the life of the vehicle

This information, Which from one r.vpeet may be’regarded as the quantitative measure of motor transport activity, is being sought by the Trans port Deparement. It will be used in conjunction with other statistical data in shedding light on the ramifications of motor transport in the Dominion, and will constitute one of the threads out of which an attempt will be made to weave what for want of a better term may be called a road transport balance-sheet.

In making an announcement to this effect the Minister for Transport (the Bon. W. A.
