LONDON BLAZE
A GREAT ALARM.
[United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.]
LONDON, May 1
Nearly one hundred families dashed from their homes, cla'd in their night clothes, when a fire occurred at a Walthamstow factory. Mothers, being terrified, wrapped their children in blankets and rushed them to safety in the streets. The flames were accompanied by a series of alarming explosions which were heard for miles around caused by the bursting of a petrol tank. Pieces of timber flew high in the air. Several narrowly escaped injury. Thousands of gallons of water were poured into the building unavailingly. It was burnt to the ground in less than an hour.
