PROTEST AT MR POLSON’S

SPEECH

BLENHEIM, May 1,

•Strong indignation was expressed by the Marlborough Provincial Executive of the Farmers’ Union regarding the criticism levelled at the completion of the South Island Main, Trunk railway by ,Mr W. J. Poison (Dominion President of the Farmers Union), in an address delivered by him at Invercargill in the course of his South Island lecturing tolir. In addition to the fact that Mr Poison! will be asked to explain his statements and attitude when he. visits Blenheim, later this month, the meeting unanimously carried the following resolution-A, ‘ this executive’ understood Mr Poison’s addresses during his South Island tour would-be. in his capacity of President of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, and would be confined to matters of interest to the farming, community, this executive object? generally to the political aspect given to his campaign,, as would, appear from the press reports, and particularly objects to his misleading statements regarding the South Island Main Trunk railway.
