ITINERARY COMPLETED
CHRISTCHURCH, May 1
For the purpose of meeting membei of Chambers of Commerce, Progress Leagues, and similar organisations, the Railway Department, in co-operation with the Canterbury Progress League, has arranged a business men’s goodwil. tour of West Coast towns, commencing on Monday, May 12th, and finishing on the following Saturday. The estimated total cost, including rail and motor fares, hotel expenses and lunches is £6 19s lOd.
It is proposed that the party sliall leave Christchurch by train on Monday arriving in the evening in Hokitika, where a meeting will he held. The following day Kokatalii and Ivoiternngi Valleys will he visited, as well as Lake Kanieri, and the party will leave for Grey mouth, to arrive there that evening.' On Wednesday various places of interest in Greymouth wil Ibe visited and in the evening a meeting will he held. Leaving the following morning, the party wil lproceed bv the new coastwise road to Westport. The Denniston mine and other places off interest will ,be visited on Friday ,and there will be a meeting in the evening. The paity will motor to Reefton on Saturday morning and, connecting'with the tram will arrive in Christchurch that evening- . , . . In conjunction with the business men’s tour the Railway Department has organised a pleasure trip to the V est Coast, embracing the glacial districts In this instance the cost will be highthan the first excursion being estimated at £8 Bs, tliis being inclusive of rail and motor fares, hotel tariff, lunches, jfind guide fees. This party will travel to Hokitika with the business men’s party, but wil leave by motor on the following day for the glaciers, half of them going t~ the Fox and half to the Frniw Josef. wTmre they will remain till Thursday. The Franz Josef party will then go to the Fox glacier and the party from the Fox will transfer to the Franz J»se r both off them returning to Hokitika o". Friday evening and to Christchurch o” Saturday.
