LONDON, April 29

There were frenzied scenes in North Shields on the quayside when a fight broke out there between Arabs and unemployed seamen,' who are protesting against the signing on of coloured firemen.

The eapons used in the fight included knives, daggers,,..hammers, and iron files.

The police broke up the fight with their batons. Some of the Arabs jumped into the ‘ river, where they were pursued bv the police in rowing boats. Three- Englishmen and one coloured i man were seriously injured.
