THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.
A REAL EXPRESS
To some New Zealand trains the term “express’’ is applied more, out of courtesy than from.merit. By cutting an hour off the time between Auckland and Rotorua, the.'process eliminating ten Railway. Department gives the Raity'train a better right to the title. The improvement is belated, and it is-probable that but for the increasingly serious competition of the motor ctir—service and private —we should' have had to wait still longer for it. However, let us be thankful for this step forward and congratulate the Department on what it uas done, not only, to■,make the journey shorter, but to improve the accommodation on the train.. Rotorua is our most remarkable tourist attraction, and for the benefit of local holidaymakers, as well as tourists, its railway service should be as quick and as comfortable as possible. uk
