WESTLAND RACING CLUB

The general committee of the above Club met last evening at 8,30 o’clock. Present: Messrs ;W. E. Williams (Chairman), A. Van-all, R. Whiley, Al. H. Houstdn, F. McGregor, H. Butin ml, J. J. Mclntosh, D. J. Evans, fl. Jones, J. Breeze, H. Newman, It. Fane, J. Peake, It. Lynn and O. Fowler.

The minutes of thfe previous meeting were confirmed. The Treasurer submitted a statement of the estimated receipts and expenses in connection with the late meeting. The receipts were set down at £2690 9s Od, and the expenses at £2478 19s Bd, leaving a surplus of £2l] 9s.—Received:!

The Chairman expressed gratification at the result in all the circumstances He complimented the caretaker (0. Fowler) on the splendid condition of the course, and said their inanks were due to the ladies for the capable manner in which the refreshment room had been conducted. Their thanks were due also to Mr H. T. Parry for providing additional music which was appreciated greatly. The statement was them--adopted. • . A special vote .of tfianks-was passed.: to Mr H. The purchase of- a horse for racecourse work was referred to a sub-com-mittee with power to act. It was decided to- carry out some course improvements ■ . including the clearing up of the cleared centre, and Mr Jones was asked to co-operate with the caretaker with regard to the special work involved.

A desire was expressed to restore the former luncheon' arrangements as soon as the necessary accommodation could be provided, and the Secretary stated this could now be arranged for on satisfactory lines which were explained and approved.

Racing dates for next season were fixed as follows: Summer Meeting, Friday and Saturday;-December 26th. and 27th.. 1930;,, Autumn Meeting, Thursday, April 9th. *1931. • , The meeting concluded at 9.30.
