the Cbuuty Cham liars at 4 p.m. yes-

tery. . Present: Mi; I). J. Evans (President), Miss Duff. Mrs Wright,

Revds. Knowles Smith and Nelson Wright, Messrs Lynn, Conning, Richards, Swency, Osmers. Apologies

were made for Mis Fane ami MessrStapleton and Duff. Following the t nfirmatiou of tb« minutes the Secretary reported tin entries totalled abuut -520, as a gains I 496 last year. The entries in the junior elocution were strong, also in the senior musical section, and th other sections filled very satisfactorily. There was every promise of a most interesting and entertaining festival. The time-table provided for the opening of the Competitions at 7.30 o’clock on Thursday evening, May 8. On Friday and Saturday there would be morning and afternoon sessions at both the Princess Theatre and Town Hall, and on Monday and Tuesday all day sessions at Princess Theatre, and on Wednesday a forenoon session at the Princess Theatre. The demonstration concerts were fixed for Wednesday and Thursday evening. There would be from 34- to 40 items at, each session; day and. night,, which would give an idea of the very .. full programme .involved. The .time-table was now. being printed in hook form, and would be on sale, lifter at one shilling per copy. The Secretary’s .arrangements in regard to the foregoing proposals were approved.

It was reported the Bristol Piano Cloy, would kindly provide 'ft piano for use at he Princess Theatre. The vocal, instrumental and dancing sections will be at the Theatre, arid certain) elocutionary . sections at the Town Hall (day sessions only). The night programmes at the Oornpetiions Were Well diversified and would include a number of recalls from the day work. Altogether splendid entertainment would he provided throughout. •

A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Butler for the trophy promised for the juvenile Shakespereun recital; also to Mr R. T. B 115)1 (Greymputh) for tire trophy for the most successful juvenile in the New Zealand author competition. The. Secretary reported tickets were now .available. Subscribers £l, family Gs, and: mem (kwh tickets 4s, covering. admission to! all the sessions of the Competitions (excepting the Demonstration Conceits).. were now on sale itthd were procurable at Brocklehurst’s. Members of the . Committee, also have tickets available. It is hoped .this .yeap to increase the subscriber’s list substantially, and names should be sent ,to the Secretary without delay. A number of matters ih connection with, the Competitions pvete talked over and the meeting rose at 4.45 p.m.
