PARNELL BYEELECTION
REFORM LAND POLICY
'By Telegraph—Per Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, April. 28. What would they think of a manager 10 had been so much out of touch
with one of the departments that he allowed the head of it and a subor-
dinate to pay £20,000 or £30,000 for land which they knew had cost the vendor only £4OOO, asked Mr W. A. Donald, the Parnell United candidate, at his meeting. A voice: The United Party is doing similar tilings. Mr Donald, supplying the answer to
nis question, said the board would give such a man the “sack.” He was referring, of course, to Mr Coates, and tney had “given him the sack.” The speaker suggested that Mr Coates and his party had done nothing since then to justify a change of mind on the part of the electors.
A voice: Mr Jenkins changed his. Mr Donald: Yes, he did, but nobody knows why.
