;• ' AUCKLAND, April 28. ‘ A double fatality"'occurred at the RotoAvaro coal mine this afternoon, th'ere were tAvo men Avorking together in a, shaft ,Avhen they Avere buried by Heavy falls of stone. The victim’s of the disaster were: — Thomas Hart, aged 31 years, married, of Huntly. •' •■ John AV. Yates, aged about 40 years married, of Iviniihia. Working unceasingly, a' relief party recovered the body of Hart about tAvo hours aftyr the occurrence. The body of Mr Yates avus not recovered at a late hour this evening as further falls have impeded the Avork of the relief party. The victims Avere engaged in heAving coal Avhen suddenly the roof fell in, overwhelming both of them. Rescue parties. Avere organised immediately. and they set to ivork to extricate the bodies. Hart’s body Avas recovered after strenuous Avork. The searchers heard moans immediately after the fall, but these ceased when further coal fell.
