At the sale of C. C. JDalgetys stud ami racing stock, Spoon, two years l, v Tea Tray—Warlove was sold for £750 guineas to G. P. Payne.

Pay mare Spotlight, 9 years for 425 gns to Wriglit Stephenson as agents; ditto Warlove Id years 330 gns., to G. G. ’Holmes; brown mare Limelight 11 years 350 gns to L. Storry. The mare Paporehase 6 years 300 gns to J. Porter; gelding Starshooter, 4 years £3OO to J. Bundy. The filly, The Geisha 2 years £3OO to J. Seaton of Timaru, gelding Coekadoodle £225 to A. J. Sutton ; mare Stannist, aged with foal and in foal £275 to J. R. .McKenzie.

MAN KILLED.

HAMILTON, April 22

The driver »f 1 lie train to \ncklaml at seven this morning noticed the ■dismembered portion of a body lying near , the railway line, hirer identified as William Andrew Thompson, 22. a railway carpenter, married with one child. The body was shockingly mutilated. Thompson left home last night ostensibly for a walk and' was not heard of again until the body was found ibis morning. Deceased came to Frankton from Taura.nga twelve months ago.

TWO GOOD TROPHIES

ROTORUA, April 17

Messrs B. Charles, of Runciman, and E. J. Knight, of Mangere, returned to Rotorua this morning with two seventeen pointer istag heads. One, which was taken at Rotoiti, was a magnificent' specimen. It is the finest seen in the district, and possibly in New Zealand.

THEFT OF CUTTER

DUNEDIN. April 22.

Hindi Engenp Fischer who yvas arrested fell arrival : of the Maui Pomnre, was charged this morning with, the' theft of the cutter Mnroro at Auckland on November 18th. He was remanded to appear on April 30th.

OBITUARY

ROTORUA, April 22

Obituary, this morning—Mistress W, A. Butt, mother of Rev. Bennett, Bishop of Ao'teoroa. She married twice and leaves a large family of grown up sons and daughters. Deceased is a lineal descendant of Tutanekui and Hinemoa.
