As a sequel to an alleged hold-up at the Normanliurst railway station (cabled on Friday), the police have arrested a young night porter who originally reported the matter. He was charged with stealing.

Smith and Shiers arrived at Sourabaya from Bima, and are proceeding to Batavia after refuelling.
BUTTER OUTPUT.
SYDNEY, April 22
The Director of Dairying says the output of butter for the year ending hOtli June will probably constitute, a State record. He predicts a great expansion in dairying in New South Wales, and also other parts of Australia.
LABOUR CONFERENCE. • MELBOURNE, April 22
Prime Minister Scullin, speaking at the Victorian Labour Conference, said if given extended powers, I lie Government could do something towards a solution of the unemployment problem. To bring down an insurance plan including ‘unemployment in.sura.uec, it would be necessary to raise forty million sterling from taxation. Air Scullin said be would resign bis position rather than declare Australia could not pay her debts.
The Conference decided to urge Cabinet to reduce the hours in State activities, without miue/mg the wages, to avoid dismissals.
