SUCCESSFUL GATHERING

Ross yesterday was en fete when the annual Easter sports gathering attaeted a good attendance, including a fair number of visitors. The committee and particularly the energetic secretary, Mr Head, worked very successfully in organising the day’s sport and in the starting of the axemen's events, Air Jack Davern, secured even and expeditious starts, so that the events were concluded in good time. The hip chop was won by \V. Banister, while D. Kelleher won tlie upright chop, and Af. Hutchison .von tlie Alaiden Chop. In the pedestrian events first honours were evenly divided by G. Alonk, It. Jones and A. Fong. Following were the results: Alaiden Chop.—Al. Hutchison 1, L. Inwood 2, R. Green 3.

Upright Chop, 12 inch logs.—D. Kelleher 1, N. AJitchcll 2, AV. Jackson 3. Time 48secs.
