A deterinined attempt was made atj midnight on Saturday to burn the public hall used as a picture theatre at ltuatoria-. A benzine caEse filled' with films and with a lighted candlin the bottom Avas placed near Undoor of the operating box upstairs, and lengths of film were run bet we- n the- seats to an open tin of hen/.ine. A. nearby storekeeper attracted by the reflection of Hie flames through the window effected an entry arid the flames - were - smothered with matting from the floor, before they reaches the benzine. A previous unsuccessful: attempt to burn tlie hall was made a week ago Jg.
