SHOP AT DUNTROON ENTERED

OAMARU, April 16

Another case in which linger prints led to the arrest oi a person was heard at the Oamaru Magistrate’s Court this morning, when Albert Robert .> lieoX'-son, alias Albert Bailey, aged 23 years, pleaded guilly to breaking and entering the simp oUf Kyle Bros., Duntroon, between March 29 th and 30tli and stealing therefrom certain articles \ allied at CO Ids lOd the property ot Kyle Bros. Evidence was given before Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., by Constable Coppell that at 6.30 a.in. on March 30th, he found that a large plate glass window in Kyle Bros.’ isliop had been smashed and that he had recovered a piece of glass with linger prints on it. Senior-Sergeant S.ott gave evidence that as a result of information received from the Commissioner of Police he had a warrant issued on April 10th for the arrest of accused, who wa« arrested by Constable Devine at the Waitnki hydro-electric works. The finger prints on the glass from Fyfe Bros.’ store, Duntroon, were identical with the finger prints of accused, as compiled bv the Criminal Investigation Department. Accused had'made a statement admitting breaking into the shop and taking the articles, and stating that he had tried on an overcoat. but it was “miles’” too big and he ldft it.

. Accused pleaded guilty and made a statement on oatli that he had been very unfortunate all bis life, and that die had lost, his father and mother when lie was ten years of age. He had been unable to get work and in desperatione had comraitteed the crime. He had been in trouble before. Accused was committed for sentence to the Supreme Court Dunedin.
