RAILWAYMENkS CUTS

SYDNEY, April 18
It is now estimated thirteen thoussand railway and tramway employees have accepted the proposals of the Railway Commissioner, Mr Cleary, to meet the economic depression in the service. These men either accept a forty-eight hours week with no increase in salary and rationing of working, or a forty-four hours week with a reduction’ of four hours pay per week.

In Brisbane an application has been lodged with the Industrial Court by the Public Service Commissioner and the Ccfrnmissoner of Railways for a forty-eight hours week.
MAWSON’S EXPEDITION
SYDNEY, April 21
Doctor Ingram, a member of the scientific staff of the M.uwson expedition is returning to the Antarctic in November. None of the work of the previous expedition was of a striking nature, but a groat deal of valuable scientific investigation was carried out.
