Not a single one of, the treasures which Dr Carter found in Tutankhanien’s tomb will bo brought to Eng--1 a hr}. It had been hoped that the British Museum might obtain some thing in recognition of the fact that Englishmen "discovered the tomb, hut Dr Carter says that the Egyptian Government lias decider:! that nothing tiiust leave Egypt. It is instead mak - ing a monetary settlement, which Dr Carter expected would be favourable.
Wonders greater than those found in the tomb of Tutankhamen are likely to be revealed if Dr Howard Carter succeeds in hiis attempt to discover the void coffin of Alexander the Groat in Alexandria. Dr Carter has arrived at London. He says his efforts to locate and explore Alexander’s tomb will bo made after the completion of his work at Tutankhamen's . tomb, when theEgyptian excavation season opens in October. He anticipates a long, difficult and exnehsivo quest. The fljain difficulty will be the location qf> the burial shot, owing to the fact that Alexandria has been so mfiph overbuilt. The preliminary wo,rk would consist in sinking tubes, /whereby be hopes to strike the lessor dignataries who were interred in the tomb. These dignitaries resting plates were spread in a wide circle, gradually working, to a centre, where it Ayias the custom to bury Royalties. Ic would he the most ’mportaht work, said, that had ever been in Egypt.
