RULES QUESTION

WELLINGTON, April 16
Changes in the Rugby rules were referred to in a discussion which took place at the meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Football Union. The topic was raised when a resolution 'of the recent annual meeting was considered. This resolution was to the eneet that the old kick into touch rule would be reverted to throughout New Zealand during the coming season. One of the members said that the reason of the resolution was to make the players fit when it came to meeting the British team. After a discussion in which the importance of the heel mark regulation and the replacement rule as they affected New Zealand players was mentioned, the meeting decided that the Unions as well as the Referees’ Association should he circularised at once. Mr E. Wylie moved and Mr IT. Leith seconded that lliese bodies he informed that the International Board rules will apply to the British games and that the old kick into touch rule is now in force in all matches for the rest of the season in accordance with the resolution recently passed. The heel mark and no replncement rules were to be. explained in the same circular latter; Mr Wylie’s motion was carried.
