WAR CLAIMS
AGAINST AUSTRIA.

WELLINGTON, April 17
The Public Trustee, in his capacity a.s Controller of the New Zealand Clearing Office, has received advice that the arbitrator appointed under the annex to the treaty of St. Ger-main-En-Lave, to assess the amount of claims bv British nationals, arising out of acts committed by the former Austro-Hungarian Government or by any Austrian authorities since July 28, 1914, aud before August 12, 1914, has, with a view to securing finality in regard to claims of this nature prescribed that in the case of claimants resident in New Zealand, all such claims must be lodged vith him prior to September 20th, 1930, approximately five months front the present date. An example of a claim under this treaty provision would be that of a person who had suffered loss by the act of the Austro-Hungarian authoiitie«, such as illegal detention after July 28th, 1911, and prior to the outbreak of the war will Austria. All persons who have claims of this nature are advised to communicate immediately with the Public Trustee, who will supply them with necessary forms to be completed and advise them as to their claims.
