SIR GEORGE CLIFFORD.

CHRISTCHURCH, April 17
Sir George Clifford, aged 83 years. Deceased was a notable figure in racing circles, and lias been for many years Chairman of the Racing Conference.
HORSES SCRATCHED.
CHRISTCHURCH, April 17
All horses of the late Sir George Clifford, engaged in the C.J.C. meeting next week, were scratched at 11.30 to-day. Those affected on the first day are: Windsomehind (Champagne Stakes and Russley Plate) Straightcour.se (Autumn Plate) Semper Paratus 'Gimcrack Handicap), Waterline Soekburn Handicap), Full Feather (Courtenay Handicap), while Waterline drops out of the Great Autumn on the second day.
