A REVOLUTION
IN ANGOLA COLONY

A short-lived revolution in Angola colony led to dramatic events. High Commissioner Camarra, left Loanda to visit Ban.guella. His secretary, Saramento, assumed responsibility and isssued orders to Colonel Almeida, chief of the military, who refused to obey, upon which Saramento led an armed party to arrest Almeida. Saramento was fatallv shot.
Camarra believing that Saramento had Ibeen killed by mutinous troops, armed natives with a view to restoring order, and sent a wireless message to a gunboat to intercept steamers from Loanaa. Lisbon sent wireless instructions to close Luanda- to the liner Africa, which was expected there. It has deposed both Camarra and Almeida, and is sending out new officials.
A wireless operator was imprisoned for refusing to obey orders. One native soldier was killed.
