AN EXCITING CHASE

INVERCARGILL, April 10. Shortly before noon today people passing the Club Hotel were amazed to see a man dash out of a corridor, hui i iedly moling a bi.ycle and pedal fin ion sly along Dee Street, hotly pursued by a small army of waitresses and oilier employees of the hotel. The fugitive turned down EMc Street towards the station, .‘and then went round the Crescent, the last seen of him being when he was riding at a fast speed along Tay Street in an easterly direction.
During his flight round the Crescent .one or two men endeavoured to interi uj)t Ihe cvclist, but witji a ,celeriiy that would have done credit to an v 'll Hlack, the rider swerved past them. Excitement was earned bv the man, wJio' had been dP-overed in the servants’ quarters of the hotel, from where sums of money are reported to have been stolen, eluding pursuit through one of the busiest sections of the city. The fugitive made good his .escape after the normal life of the community had been rudely disturbed.
