ADDINGTON STOCK SALE.

CHRISTCHURCH, April 9. Prices were lower at to-day’s Addington sale. Beef—There were 580 head yarded, mostly unfinished sorts. At the start prices were easier by £1 per head, with a further drop of 10s at the closing stages. Steers sold: Heavy £l7 18s to £l9 17s 6d, prime £l4 10s to £l6 10s, medium £l2 to £l3 os, plain £9 10s to £ll 10s. Cows and heifers sold : Best £ll 10s to £ls 12s 6d, prime £5 10s to £ll, medium and plain £6 to £B, finished cows £4 to £5 10s.

Mutton—There was a Jarge offering or 5,500 yarded, The quality was mixed. Pricks were easier. W'efchers sold: Best to 32s 4d, prime 25s to 27s fid, medium 22s to 245, light 18s to 21s fid; ewes, best 21s 4d, prime 17s to 18s Gd, medium 14s to Ids 6d, light 9s to 12s 6d.

lat lambs: The prices declined by Is to Is Gd on late rates, owing to the freezing buyers not being keen. The best sold to 27s lOd, prime 23s to 26s medium 19s fid to 22s fid, light 15s to 19s.

Store sheep: Of store lambs there was a very small offering. Prices were on a par with last week, the best selling at 14s to 15s medium 10s to 13s culls 6s to 9s fid. The adult sheep totalled 13,500, and there was a fair attendance of buyers. The sale was irregular. The best two-tooth ewes sold 24s to 80s fid, others 20s to 235, four and five-year crossbred ewes 16s to 18s older 12s to 14s fid. Wethers sold at last week’s prices.

Pat pigs: There was a large offering both of pork and bacon. Prices were firm at late rates. The West Coast was represented by offerings. Choppers sold £2 to £7 2s fid, pork 48s to 555, heavy sfi.s to 60s, average 81 d per lb. Bacon sold £3 10s to £4 2s fid, heavy £4 5s to £5 ss, extra to £5 14s fid, average 0J- per lb.
